SKILLS BUILDING AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (SBOD)

‘‘There is no youth participation in peacebuilding without social and economic empowerment’’

In support of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , ADECOP works to improve social and economical capacities of young people and vulnerable minorities.

Youth Local Initiatives

Born out of the simple idea that given the chance to realise their projects, youth can bring a sustainable change in our community and therefore be a real springboard for youth participation. The objective of ADECOP is to ensure that Congolese youth have the technical and financial support to develop their creativity by giving them the opportunity to implement entrepreneurial and innovative ideas. ADECOP is developing partnerships to offer entrepreneurial coaching and formation: on theories on the organization and community management of groups, Practical skills training, such as community mapping, advocacy, communication and the design of projects and thematic issues, such as community safety, youth-adult partnerships, social entrepreneurship and active citizenship.

To reduce poverty and unemployment rate among the youth, ADECOP is envisioning to create a fund to support projects connected to the SDGs, where youth plan to tackle local social and economical issues.  ADECOP actively seeks opportunities to strengthen its capacity to provide support to the launch and then continue technical assistance to viable social enterprises that have the potential to increase the contribution of young people in their communities and to strengthen social cohesion.

Idea Hub

Through this initiative, ADECOP offers a computer center and a collaborative work space. The incorporation of this program echoes the assumption that youth initiatives, beyond their limited internal capacity, the inability to purchase the services and equipment necessary for their projects (communication, logistics, administration) could be an obstacle.

The idea is to set up a hub to host 3 to 5 small business and youth organizations that could come and use equipment or services when they need them for their community projects. In addition, the hub is also a way to support the creation of links between different groups of young people through the sharing of the same resources and the exchange of their experiences.

Community support and assistance

ADECOP organizes two 6-month programs each year during which 25 poor and disadvantaged street youth choose a major field of study to be trained in theoretical and practical trades. The objective is to enable these young people to be self-sufficient, earn an income and support themselves financially.

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE! Equip the ADECOP’s Idea Hub

A workspace designed for Congolese youth to work, meet and create!

While many Congolese youth are increasingly developing ideas, projects, and social enterprises and organizations, the majority of them face considerable logistical, financial, and technical challenges and obstacles to achieving greater impact.

To address this, ADECOP is launching this project to inspire, connect and enable young entrepreneurs, freelancers, professionals, non-profits, NGOs, small businesses, artists, designers, developers, etc. to create meaningful change in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

  • Collaborative Workspace: Provide a space for youth in the city of Goma to build a large project, exchange ideas, meet with important clients, teach a seminar, or any other task that involves multiple people in the same space.
  • Shared Offices: Youth organizations and businesses that do not have a permanent office will be able to access an individual space where they can work with permanent or ad hoc support.
